Get baptized at our church picnic this year!
Picnic Details
NOTE THAT DUE TO WATER CONDITIONS, THERE IS NO SWIMMING.
BAPTISMS WILL STILL HAPPEN AND FISHING IS PERMITTED.
On Sunday, August 25th we continue our annual tradition of getting together to celebrate baptisms, eat good food, and get to know some new faces. We’re returning to Cottage Lake Beach Club in Woodinville, just a short 5 mile drive north from our building.
What’s the big idea?
Show up at Cottage Lake Beach Club at 10:00a with chairs and your lunch (maybe something to share?). Drop your stuff at the park entrance and then park at the Woodinville library (map here).
Where is the park exactly?
Cottage Lake Beach Club
18808 Northeast 168th Street
Woodinville, WA 98072
Some mapping apps have a hard time with the address, but Google works pretty well. Please note: unless you own really good binoculars, do not go to the public park on the north end of the lake. The private park is on the southeast corner of the lake, inside of the Cottage Lake Beach Club neighborhood.
Can you give me directions from the church building?
Sure. Turn right out of our lot, then left on East Lake Sammamish Pkwy. Go straight through the light to take 180th Ave (don't turn on to Redmond Way) which will take you past Home Depot. When that dead ends, make a left on Union Hill Rd. Turn right (north) on Avondale. Head 5 miles north to Woodinville. Turn left into the Woodinville Library parking lot.
Best place to park?
Please park at the Woodinville library (mapped here). If you have people or any heavy items you'd like to drop at the gate, you're welcome to do so, but treat the entrance like a loading zone. Do not park in front of the homes in the neighborhood, because Jesus wouldn't.
I've been meaning to sign up to get baptized. Did I miss it?
It’s not too late to get baptized! If you recently started following Jesus, or never got around to it, sign up here. We promise to cheer real loud for you.
What all is at the park?
The waterfront has a small sandy beach. There is no lifeguard on duty so please keep an eye on your children near the water. There is also a freshwater showerhead for rinsing off if you decide to swim. The park features an open lawn, basketball/pickleball court, horseshoe pit, two playground structures (for bigger and smaller kids), and a dock with a kids slide and diving board. Doxa has reserved the cabana but the rest of the park is public. Please be thoughtful and kind when interacting with Pastor Donald's neighbors.
Are there restrooms?
There is a very clean port-o-potty on site, and a changing tent as well.
Can I bring someone who doesn't normally go to Sundays with Doxa?
Definitely.
Can I bring Calvin Luther, my Goldendoodle?
Sorry, no pets allowed of any kind.
Can I bring my kayak/paddleboard/floatie along?
Absolutely.
Can I ransack the refreshments while everyone is distracted watching the baptisms?
Oh, like last year? Nope, we're locking the snacks up this time.
Drones?
Nope.
Fireworks?
No.
Sports equipment?
Probably. Just be mindful of who's around when you're being sporty. Fishing is probably a bad idea because of the foot traffic on the dock.
Are there sharks/alligators/monsters in the lake?
Not to our knowledge, but we serve a God of miracles.
